Does the rent cover additional costs like utilities?
The monthly rent usually only covers the property itself. Services such as electricity, water, gas, and internet are often billed separately. Always review the listing or reach out to confirm what’s included.
What paperwork do I need to rent a property?
To submit an application, you’ll typically need a government-issued ID, recent proof of income (or a guarantor’s financial details), and possibly a work or study document. Specific requirements may be outlined in the property details.
How much time does it take to hear back about my application?
Responses to rental applications usually take a few days to a week, but this depends on the landlord’s process and the demand for the property. Be sure to check your email for updates or additional document requests.
Is it possible to adjust the rental price or conditions?
In most cases, landlords set fixed prices and conditions, but it never hurts to ask! Discussing details like longer leases or minor adjustments might be an option depending on the landlord.
What should I do if I have to move out before the lease ends?
If you need to leave early, you might be asked to find someone to take over your lease or pay a fee for breaking the contract. Check your rental agreement for details and talk to your landlord to explore your options.
Hello, we are Rutger (29, working), Martijn (34, working), Susan (36), Sven (35, working), and Lyona (31, working). We are looking for a new housemate to join our lovely place in Nieuwegein starting mid-March. Preferably, we would like a woman in our age group, as we have a mixed composition and would like to maintain that dynamic, which has worked well for us (3 men and 3 women).
You will be living in a spacious 34m² room on the ground floor and will share a bathroom and toilet with Lyona. Additionally, we have a large shared living room, kitchen (with dishwasher!), front yard (with sun and lounge set), and a backyard where we enjoy barbecuing in the summer.
We are a relaxed household, where everyone has their own life, and we give each other space. However, we also enjoy doing activities together, such as gourmet cooking for Christmas and kayaking in the summer, ending with a meal at Jack’s Grillhouse. It’s a great dynamic with plenty of freedom for your busy life.
The rent for this room is expected to be €502 per month. In addition, we all pay €160 per month for energy, water, cleaning costs, waste disposal, household items, etc. These costs cover all necessities in the house. You will also be required to complete a weekly cleaning task and mow the lawn about three times a year with another housemate. This is not just a room; you will be living in a communal living project. Our garden adjoins a beautiful courtyard that we share with about 40 others. In total, there are around 140 people in the project, providing ample opportunities for social contact.
This is the whole essence of the project. Weekly activities are organized that you can participate in, catering to everyone's interests. You will never have to be alone, and everyone respects each other's privacy; nothing is mandatory, and it's perfectly fine to retreat for some alone time! The room is expected to be available on March 1st, and the viewing date will be discussed this week and communicated later. Please keep in mind mid to late February for the viewing. Note: this is social housing, so there is an income limit.
